Description: Our Client, a global leader in the metals recycling industry, is looking for a Shredder Operations Supervisor in Everett, MA.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure safe work practices and equipment are used at all times and that documentation, inspections, and current practices are in accordance with corporate safety policies, OSHA and other regulatory guidelines, provide a safe environment for all customers at the shredder;
• Create Health & Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) with Regional Safety Engineer(s);
• Ensure all department employees receive timely safety and operational training and that the appropriate documents (signed acknowledgement forms) are prepared.Maintain employee files per regional practice;
• Assign an employee to be on the Safety Committee and personally attend Safety Committee meetings on rotation with other managers;
• Monitor safety program to reduce accident frequency within department,implement new safety ideas / procedures and establish safety goals;
• Provide leadership to department employees on multiple shifts;
• Assign work schedule for employees under his / her direct supervision in order to run efficiently, at optimal production rates, with minimal overtime;
• Review repair and maintenance needs with the Plant Manager and Maintenance Supervisor;
• Ensure processing and storage of finished goods is done in compliance with internal controls already set in place;
• Prepare and monitor daily production reports to continuously improve throughput, reduce costs / expenses and increase profitability and maximum metal recovery;
• Interview prospective production employees.

Requirements:

• Manufacturing work experience (5+ years);
• Managerial experience (2+ years);
• Metals Recycling Industry experience;
• Experience managing and leading a work crew;
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing processes;
• Continuous improvement experience;
• Experience managing a departmental budget, justifying capital expenditures and measuring return on investment;
• Maintenance background (preferred);
• Experience working within a unionized environment (preferred);
• Knowledge of Spanish (preferred);
• Bachelor's degree.
