What to include in an IT staffing request
A clear request gives your staffing partner the context to search for people who fit the work, environment and schedule.

When a role is difficult to fill, the job title alone rarely explains what success looks like. A focused staffing request helps recruiters understand the assignment and lets candidates decide whether the opportunity fits their experience.
1. Describe the work and its outcome
Explain what the person will do in a typical week and what the team needs them to accomplish. If the position supports a project, name the project phase or near-term deliverables.
2. Separate required skills from preferred skills
Identify the experience a candidate must have to begin the work safely and effectively. Put useful but optional experience in a separate list. A long list of preferences can make a qualified candidate look unqualified on paper.
3. Include the technical environment
Share the relevant systems, tools, platforms and methods the person will use. Add the level of hands-on experience required and note any certifications that are truly necessary for the assignment.
4. State location and schedule expectations
Clarify whether the work is onsite, hybrid or remote, where it is based, the expected working hours and any travel. Include on-call or shift requirements when they apply.
5. Set out timing and engagement details
Give the expected start date, assignment length, interview steps and decision timeline. Where available, share the approved pay or bill-rate range and any contract or onboarding conditions candidates should know early.
6. Explain screening and access requirements
Note any background screening, work authorization, client onboarding, system access or other assignment-specific steps. Share only requirements that apply to the role and can be communicated to candidates.
A concise, accurate request helps everyone focus on the same role from the first conversation. If your organization needs technical talent, talk with Vitaver Staffing about your hiring need.
